Prospective Graduate Students
Graduate students can pursue their interests in plant or
forest ecology by working towards PhD, MS, or MPS degrees in Ecology,
Conservation Biology, Applied Ecology, Plant Science, or in the Ecosystems Study Area of our interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Environmental Science (GPES). Students should be self-motivated, with an excellent academic record and ideally a prior
research or field experience and strong quantitative and writing skills.
Graduate studies can be funded either by a research assistantship associated
with a funded research project (please check, availability varies),
a competitively awarded departmental teaching assistantship, or an outside graduate
fellowship (such as EPA-STAR or NSF-predoc). To initiate discussion,
please send a brief email with a short paragraph summarizing your
research interests, qualifications, and professional goals. Please include
your previous degrees, relevant job experience/skills, GPA, GRE (if
available) and attach your resume. Details on graduate studies at SUNY-ESF and how to apply can be found and here (GPES).
