Her research focuses on the interactions between microbial communities and emerging contaminants in natural and engineered systems, aiming to develop innovative solutions for resource recovery, ecosystem sustainability, and public health improvement. She employs multi-omics approaches, analytical chemistry, and environmental engineering principles to study these interactions.

“ is known for its exceptional research and scholarship, and the faculty members who earned this recognition are at the forefront of their fields,”  King said. “Our inaugural Horizon awardees have already made a profound impact in their fields of study early in their careers, and by highlighting them we hope to inspire even more achievements in the years to come.”

“Dr. You’s recognition with the Chancellor’s Horizon Award is a testament not only to her exceptional scholarship, but also to the real-world relevance of her work,” said Dr. Lindi Quackenbush, interim provost. “Her research into microbial communities and emerging contaminants is helping to shape more sustainable environmental practices and safeguard public health—demonstrating impact well beyond the lab.”
