ESF Students Spend Spring Break Conducting Prescribed Burns in Georgia

Students from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) chose to spend spring break in Georgia, engaging in prescribed burns — a forestry management practice that involves intentionally setting fires to promote forest health, support wildlife biodiversity, and increase resilience to future wildfires.

Dr. Yaqi You Receives New Investigator Award

Dr. Yaqi You at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF), has been honored with a New Investigator Award from the Joint Genome Institute at the Department of Energy. This award will support You's research on how biochar affects the soil environment to reduce greenhouse gases and improve the growth of bioenergy crops.

ESF Receives NYSG Grant for Coastal Wetlands Research

The SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) has been awarded a $217,070 grant from the New York Sea Grant to study coastal wetlands. The project, led by Drs. Emily Arsenault and John Farrell from ESF’s Department of Environmental Biology, aims to improve ecosystem resilience and health of juvenile fish in these vital habitats.
